Talahogan Guestbook

We visited with friends and there are honestly not enough good words I can say about the house, location, and host. First off, the house, it’s incredible and perfectly suited for any type of gathering. The landscaping is expertly designed and maintained immaculately, so much so that it’s a full extension of the living space. The view from the patio is stunning and pictures, while beautiful, do not do the majesty of the view justice. I can’t imagine living there and being able to see that every day, I’d never leave. The house is also private, which was really important to my group. The interior was comfortable and cozy, and very very clean (I have crazy high standard for this). At night we had a great view of thunder mountain from the living room window. Utter perfection. The house is also optimally situated to everything. There’s a grocery store minutes away (a rather good one), numerous restaurants, ATVs, shopping, alien tours (it’s better than you would think). In short, there is no shortage of things to do. Ron is an amazing host and provides helpful guides to the area in addition to being incredibly pleasant. If it says anything, we are booked to go back in the spring of this year. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else.

Dear Ron, Words don't work! And neither, might I add, do the photos. We have been in an habitual state of awe. We've been to Sedona twice before but this trip simply put our experiences 'over the top'. The location--the house--the dream, thanks for putting it all together for us.

-Sincerely, Jack & Megan Karpan, New Port Rickey, Florida.
P.S.: The wildlife was particularly photo friendly.

Dear Ron, Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. The views are breathtaking. As an owner of a vacation rental home, I truly appreciate how much effort it takes to provide such a comfortable and well equipped home that reflects so well its surroundings.

-Deborah Engles, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

This “mini-vacation” with my wife, kids and their significant others was planned to celebrate my 60th birthday. But it was a wonderful getaway for us all and all our birthdays this year. What a beautiful place we discovered in Talahogan…both inside and more dramatic on the outside grounds. Nothing could have prepared us for this majestic place and Sedona. Every part exceeded our expectations. Coming from a frantic, impersonal East Coast existence, our family needed this big time. Thanks for sharing your “home on the hill.”

-The DeLommas Family

Beauty, peace, lovely, lovely house—THANK YOU!! for sharing this awesome place with us. It was truly a wonderful visit. The views are so magnificent. Bless you!

-Nancy and Neil Wilkin, Brinklow, Maryland

Dear Ron, What a gift you have given us four women. A powerful place of beauty and warmth where I was able to rejuvenate my body, mind and soul with three dear friends. I feel truly blessed.

-Thank you, Caroline Wright, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Talahogan has to be surrounded by the most spectacular scenery—all within range, each window with a different gorgeous view! Your home so well planned and appointed. We (four friends—over 50 years of friendship) have loved every minute of our stay. Thank you for sharing!

-Barb and George Bonvallat, Vermont/Muriel and Phil Withrow, Maine

Thank you so much for creating and maintaining such a wonderful place. My wife and I have never been to a more beautiful part of the country, and staying in Talahogan was an incredible experience. Can something be both stimulating and relaxing at the same time? It can if that something is a high-desert stay at Talahogan! Other than a few gallery visits, we never even saw Sedona itself.......if we weren't hiking the wonderful canyons, we were back at Talahogan, relishing our time atop your hilltop haven. Again, a thousand heartfelt thanks.....

-Dick Hill & Susie Breck, Lansing, Michigan

Dear Ron, We are the couple renting Talahogan for the month of February and wanted to let you know how much we are enjoying your home—the birds, wildlife, and, of course, the views. A major highlight this morning was a bobcat that strolled through the patio area and looked into the window; that was a huge treat. Six deer strolled through the back yard several mornings back, which was another great treat. Also, a couple of days ago the javelinas were back, about 7 of them, and this time there were two new babies about the size of a cottontail rabbit. That too was a treat as well as all the birds (quail, scrub jays, cardinals, hummingbirds, towhee's, etc.). As you might guess, we are enjoying your home a lot and very happy to be here. I had to make a quick trip to Honolulu for a one day meeting last week. Normally going to HNL is a joy, but not when having to leave the Talahogan!!! All your written information is very informative and helpful; thanks for putting it together.

-Jim and Pam Goetz, Seattle, Washington

Serenity and peace! Thank you for the hospitality and inspiration.

-Chip and Jane Calcari, San Antonio, Texas

This has been a welcome and refreshing stay. This home is a blessing and a delight. We saw a herd of javelina with twin babies, quail, lizards and oh so many hummingbirds. It will be sad to leave. We came here with our parents—my Mom and Dad and my husband’s Mom—to create memories that would last a lifetime before we begin our own family. And that’s how it was—memorable and wonderful. Thank you!

-Nanette and David George, Raleigh, North Carolina

Dear Ron, thank you so much for letting us share your lovely Talahogan. The scenery, the patio, the wildlife, the thoughtful instructions and descriptions of the area all made our visit a wonderful experience for my wife and I. We both feel wonderfully relaxed after spending a week here and hope to be back next year. Thanks again.

-Liz and Bob Brown, Karratha, Western Australia

We have truly enjoyed the peace and beauty of this special place for our 11th anniversary. It makes you want to sigh with relief when you step on the property. We have truly rested and feel a sense of regeneration as we are nearing the end of our stay. No doubt about it, we will be back.

Lieber Ron!

We loved the views and the warmth and character of the house and gardens. Our kids kept their long-distance running routines on the roads out beyond Dry Creek. The wild pigs visited one evening and this was great fun for our kids! Thanks for making your home available!

-The Catletts, Naperville, Illinois

We have absolutely loved Talahogan. I’m a third generation Arizona girl and so appreciate the history here. We celebrated Mom’s 90th birthday on this trip and she loved it! Saw lots of javelina, birds, etc. We so hope we can come back next year for another week. Thank you so much!

-Connie, Tom and Dorothy Smith, Superstition Foothills, Arizona

Thank you for a very relaxing vacation. We shared this beautiful place with the quail, javelina herds, and a bobcat--one elusive kitty!. Even though we were here in Sedona for ten days, we spent 90% of it right here on the patio. I can’t tell you how much we appreciated the clean, comfortable house that you provided. It was very well kept up and lived up to the web photos. Great views and a wonderful neighborhood. Thanks for sharing this special spot.

-The Siddoways, Fullerton, California/The Corrlas, Simi Valley, California

We appreciated the opportunity to stay at your beautiful place. What a difference compared to Europe! The landscape is fantastically sculpted by Mother Nature and your home, located high on a hill, offers breathtaking views. Your landscaping is extraordinary, and we took a lot of pictures of all the flowers and plants.

-Marion and Willi Euler, Boulder, Colorado and Germany

A house with history and a home with rustic charm, harmonious landscaping, magnificent views and lots of privacy. Thank you to the owners for your attention to detail. We hope the views from Talahogan remain as natural as they are now.

-The Shermans, New York

Thank you for sharing this beautiful house and awesome property! We had a fantastic time and really wish that we could stay longer. We’ll miss the javelinas—How cool are they? Looking forward to coming back again someday soon!

Dear Ron, We’ve been to Sedona 20 times now. This was our most enjoyable visit. You have a wonderful place and we will be back.

-Chuck and X, Los Angeles, California

Thanks for sharing this amazing property with us, Ron. What a wonderful place to come to rest and rejuvenate! The views are truly breathtaking. Tiffany and I feel blessed to have spent time here and can't wait to come back! Our first day provided close-up views of mule deer (including a baby) and the week capped off with a visit by a javelina family. We'll be back!

-Kind Regards, Charles Moore & Tiffany Hays-Moore, Tennessee

We have had a wonderful week at Talahogan. It was all we had hoped for and more, inside and out. Thank you so much!

-Ed and Gail Stentz, Orlando, Florida

We knew the moment that we walked through the front door, we were going to have wonderful week! You have thought of everything. Incredible grounds, wildlife and huge windows. Loved it all!

-The Martins, Bakersfield, California

Dear Ron, Thank you for our wonderful month-long stay at Talahogan. Besides hiking we spent most of our daytime on the patio enjoying your garden and wonderful views while reading our books. We appreciate how you have made Talahogan so "user-friendly" and even how you have attracted wildlife to entertain us.

-John and Carol Simpson, Alexandria, Virginia

Lieber Ron!

A most special week...in a most special house! Love the history, comfort, gardens, views and peace here at Talahogan. This was our first visit and hope it won't be our last!

-Rod and Patty West, Interlocken, Michigan

There is no greater joy than spending seven days of our Arizona vacation at Talahogan. The natural beauty of the place is unsurpassed . . . and that includes the landscape as well as every convenience the house offers. We prepared most of our meals together, and whether eating inside or out on the patio, the views were always relaxing and spectacular. We all arrived with our cameras . . . my 8 and 10 year-olds grandsons loved to get close-ups of the hummingbirds and lizards. I would awake at early daybreak to see the hot air balloons floating by the bedroom window. Did I love everything about it? YES including Ron, the owner.

Maggie C., Alexandria, Virginia

My family and I stayed at Talahogan for the month of May and it was one of the most unforgettable vacations. The place was amazing. The inside of the house is very charming with stunning views from every window. The outside is surrounded by breathtaking views and gardens that welcome wildlife. One of my favorite characteristics of Talahogan is that the windows are slightly tinted allowing the animals outside not to be startled when watching them. We were able to see Javelina, golden eagles, deer, bobcats, coyotes, and many different kinds of beautiful birds. The area is private and quite which makes the stay very peaceful. It’s a short drive to town and to several hiking trails in the area. We have stayed in several other highly rated places including homes and Enchantment resort in Sedona and Talahogan is by far the most incredible place. Usually when in Sedona we drive to different places to see the beautiful scenery, at Talahogan you are completely immersed in it. I would recommend anyone visiting Sedona to stay here!
